It was overcast this afternoon and threatening to drizzle. I made it out for a walk with my Ricoh GR3 and took a few photos around Balaclava park. Many photographers don’t like the lower contrast look of flat light on an overcast day and for some subjects that makes sense. Personally I kind of like overcast and rainy days especially if there are some clouds to give some character to the sky. I’m also not opposed to giving my photo’s a little help with the contrast slider in Lightroom! The absense of strong highlights and shadows that a sunny day provides just forces you to look for other interesting elements in a scene. There is also the fact that waiting for a bright sunny day in Vancouver significantly reduces your available good light” days!
